Periyapuranam presents the history of the Nayanmars, who were the devotees of Lord Shiva. Karaikal Ammaiyar is one of the Nayanmars among the devotional group. Sekkizhar pays foremost importance to Karaikal Ammaiyar in his writing. The present study would discuss the devotional journey of Karaikal Ammaiyar from her childhood age to old age. Further, it would discuss the transformation of Lord Shiva as a child, when Karaikal Ammaiyar was old and called her as ‘Ammaiye’
