The Aesthetic of Thinai Mayakkam – Reading and Extension
Abstract
Thinai Maykkam is an important element of the Thinai structure of Tolkappiyam. Thinai Mayakkam occurs in various levels that is the mingling of Karupporul and Uripporul, Kaikilai and Perunthinai in four Thinais and between Agam and Puram. We can say all are above elements of Thinai Maykkam based on Tolkappiyam and its commentaries and contemporary research. In this regard, We can express that Thinai Mayakkam is a natural aesthetics of poetry. We can identify and interpret of this quality in later and contemporary periods of Tamil literature. We could develop the organic theory of Tolkappiyam as an Aesthetic of Thinai Mayakkam to read and interpret contemporary Tamil literature.
